November's Quiet Grey

Cold creeps in,

The first snow irritates,

The light fades

as candles burn

to ease the pain

of feigned kinship

and looming so-called

Holidays—

Of Thanksgiving

and the madness of gifts.

.

Kindness dwindles

as snow thickens

on the unsuspecting earth,

which hibernates and regenerates,

while humanity degenerates.
