Hair rising as if it were alive,
I typed out the end of my answer,
And with bated breath,
I pushed send.
Rumbles of thunder entered my ears,
I stared at the screen,
Yet with agony I watched,
My message refusing to send.
Lightning flashed across the sky,
I pushed send again and again,
But to no avail,
My text wouldn't leave.
Rain was not accompanying the storm,
Clouds were only darkening the sky,
So why,
Why did my phone decide not to do its life purpose?
Wondering if lightning alone could hinder reception,
I desperately tried once more,
Because how else could I let my date know,
That I wanted Thai instead of tacos again?
