Not What You Think

Heaven

By Donny FoleyPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's not some fancy warm cloud city or kingdom

It's the night sky at 4am on the corner of your block

When all who exist are just you and whatever you believe in

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's the song of the birds when spring begins

When you can feel new life being breathed into the day

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's the ache you get when you laugh so hard it hurts

When nothing else matters in that moment but the sheer joy you feel

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's the feeling you get when you take the first bite of a meal you've been craving all day

When the flavor hits perfectly and you fill up and feel like you could take a nap right then and there

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's nostalgia for those "good old days"

When times were simpler, and the only thing to worry about was if you were getting ice cream after dinner

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's the pain at the loss of a loved one

When you realize that even in death they can teach you lessons on love and empath just like they taught you lessons while they were alive.

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's that feeling of excitement after you just secured a date with the most gorgeous person you've ever seen

When you feel the butterflies in your stomach as you get ready for the night out

Heaven isn't what you think it is

It's not some cloud city or kingdom

Heaven has been around you all this time, you just have to slow down and appreciate every part of the life you have
