Not This Time

Not This Time

By ElliePublished about a year ago • 1 min read

I sat down in silence, just like before,

But something stirred behind the door.

A whisper, a tremble, a shadow near—

That old friend, Anxiety, creeping with fear.

It knocked without sound, no words to say,

But I knew it well—it had lost its way.

Still searching for cracks to enter in,

Still chasing the echo of who I had been.

But this time, I stood—did not pretend,

I ran to prayer, like meeting a friend.

I whispered my heart in soft, steady tones,

And poured out the weight I carried alone.

No longer a host to the pain I knew,

I closed the door and let peace through.

I won’t fall back where I once had been,

This story is different—I rise again.

So farewell, Anxiety—no more disguise,

This soul won’t break, it dares to rise.

Not this time, not again, not today—

You’re not welcome back—go on, fade away.
