Not So Painless

Yeah, I been grinding with a limp in my step

Still stepping on the necks of the ones that slept

They was laughing when the lights was low

Now they quiet when the money start to flow

I was starving, stomach touching my spine

Now the same ones begging for a piece of the pie

I don’t trust them, keep them far from the circle

because the closest ones usually the first to hurt you

I been counting all the nights I cried in the dark

Turned the tears to a spark, now the fire is art

Every bar that I spit got a piece of my soul

Every beat that I ride got a piece of the cold

I was raised by the block, taught to never fold

Now I’m breaking all the rules that the old heads told

Tried to run from the past but it’s stuck to my feet

Tried to smile for you but the pain too deep
