The Pageantry Of Change

So it's over, was that it?

Standing here in aftermath

No celebration, mediation, meditation

Just frustration.

Now what?

Give up and surrender to the loss, crawl under our blankets of recluse?

I refuse

Go back to the disappointments that no longer surprise me?

Grovel in the chances lost to make that change we all anticipated?

Red, white and blue, for who?

Not you, but you, the few, too few!

What happened to the rainbow?

Every color, every gender every right, right?

I refuse to settle now, idle in my room watching scenes of promises on TV

After experiencing all the revelry and pride, I will step out side, not cower and hide

Because of PRIDE!

The drive still lives it moves inside, calling, screaming, reassuring that the spark of change was lit

A fire burns where once there were oceans of suppression

No hiding or returning to what was, it's gone, we exposed and burned it

We DID that!

Took a moment in time and made a step towards better, towards equality, towards true freedom never known before

The wind blows, slow and deliberately

We are the oxygen

Breathing life

Releasing a cleansing fire

A phoenix

Rising stronger than before

A hurricane unleashed by the fluttering of wings

It is coming

Listen.....

A beautiful renewal, revival

Restoration

And we will be ready

We are the parade!!

Great poem about pride. "A fire burns where once there were oceans of suppression" This line and the poem reminded me of a country that was built for freedom and a hum of revolution on the horizon. A reminder of what it once was.
