Not Contrary

Mere, Mere (Meredith Harmon)

Today’s the day

the world changed.

I wasn’t there—or maybe

something that wasn’t me

yet was. Nature opened

her coral seas, serenading

sirens to sleep so

safety could slink in.

Butterflies not yet born

came into the world as caterpillars,

capering,

“Calloo! Callay!”

christened chrysalis cathedrals.

Some fae-spirited creature

sprouted a body of Eve,

rocked the world,

so butterflies

could breed and breathe.

Please wish Meredith a happy birthday!
