Not a Dad

So not worth anything

Not a Dad

I Can't try anymore.

I can't cry anymore.

The world is built for dads.

And I'm never gonna be one.

Fathers day cards and barbeques

I'm never gonna see one.

You think this is my choice?

Like I wouldn't change it if I could?

I would kill to be a dad

Maybe then I'd have a voice.

When you think of "Elders"

You say you think "That Dad's Invested"

Well then lets update my status

"Developmentally arrested"

I can't get any of my friends to answer when I'm calling

When the rest can't make it there the rest of them are stalling

If it ever came down to it just being me and you

You'd cancel plans with me cuz now you've got the flu.

You really think I chose this? IVF's expensive.

Round one destroyed my bank account and altered my perspective.

It made my wife so sick I'd hold her crying in my arms

It ruined our relationship so I excised the harm

I don't think we'll survive another still birth in our marriage

And we sure don't wanna go though another tough miscarriage.

So don't drive us away and put us back up on the shelf.

I'm needing you to realize that I can't be by myself.
