Born into a life, where I was judged from the beginning.

Even as an adolescent, I saw there was no winning.

From my very earliest memories; the ones I can retrieve.

It was the slip beneath my mother's dress, that gave me my reprieve!

Some may have a blankie; others have a bear.

But the comfort this material gave; for me, made it so very rare.

The peace and calm that kept me sane, from just a piece of silk;

Was just as much a necessity, as a baby that needs their milk!

From early on, my dad would tease, “You’ll be carrying that when you’re 30!”

Good thing no bets were made on that, cause at 41, we both lost clearly! Lol

An undergarment, piece of fabric; call it what you may.

But honestly, my truth is; it’s helped me through every day!

So you may call it childish, ridiculous, or just some hobby!

But for me its been a lifeline. And I simply call it “nonnie”!
