A Riddle

You may complain that your life is a mess

But me? I'm a nonentity.

You may think you've got it worse than the rest,

But you can be seen, unlike me.

*

Yes, people look through me

As if I'm not there

And yet, I am needed,

Good thing I'm not rare.

*

You see, I am there in a baby's first cry

I carry the voice of a song.

I'm the one who is called on when birds soar up high

And I help move clouds along.

*

I am the one who tickles your hair

Guess who I am, if you're sly and aware.

*

Now, if I am absent, you'll gasp and you'll faint

I'm that important to you

Yet, I'll make tornadoes, yes I am no saint

You think you know me, then I'm new.

*

Yes, people look through me

As if I'm not there

And yet, you need me

Did you guess?

*

*

*

*

*

*

I am air!
