No One Knows
For Judey's "Will you accept the challenge?" unofficial.
This piece was written for Judey Kalchik's unofficial challenge and inspired by hearing this song on my way home one day. Fun and indeed challenging to write a 200-word minimum poem with only 49 single-syllable words plus the last word, which was dictated. Technically, the date she listed has passed, but Judey said it wasn't a hard deadline, so I went for it anyway.

One may feel some of what you feel
One may know some of what you know
One may love some things that you love
They may think they know you
But no one knows
What it means to be you -
What you feel
What you know
What you love
What is in your heart.
Share what you feel
Share what you know
Share what you love
Share what is in your heart.
*
One may feel some of your joy
One may feel some of your pain.
One may know your face and see you day by day
They may think they know you
But no one knows
What it means to be you -
What you feel
What you know
What you love
What life means to you.
Share your joy
Share your pain
Share what you love
Share what is in your heart.

You may give some of you.
You may share your hopes
Your dreams, your life,
But much of who you are
Still hides from all.
Hides from those who think they know you.
Your true, big dreams
Your true joys
What you feel
What you know
What you love
Your life
Are yours.
Just yours.
No one knows you
Anywhere.
