"No More"

My first poem following a personal loss

My father died the other day, his hands so still and cold.

I held them tight, with all my might, praying for his soul.

And as I watched him drift away my heart began

to break,

for all the times that have come and gone -

every memory we made:

No more coffee breaks at dawn;

No more Sunday Morning meals;

No more Winters by the fire,

Or Summers at the grill.

No more laughter, no more songs,

No more stories short and long;

No more kisses, no more hugs;

No more joy for all of us...

My father died the other day, and I just don't know

how to say,

How deep this grief runs even now -

Is there even a way to tell you how? -

My heart has truly broken.
