The most immediate thing I ever wrote

It's another new year

In a life that's still young

A life full of fear-- glimpsed in the rear-view mirror

Old friends come and go

And new friends are waiting just around the corner

Thought it may seem impractical

I'd really like to reminisce

Days pass in a haze

Life can be quite the daunting thing

Still deep down inside I find a song to sing

So many points of view

And lines intersecting

Visions I've had seem to tumble down around my ears

The uncertainty of life

Is the only thing I can always depend on

However I hold it

The past is always gone

Take all the time that you need

I've got at least seven more years

Try as I might courage will not erase any fears

Cause I'm not the same boy who kicked open those doors

Ready to take on the world

When my head brushes clouds it's nice to have friends

Who can't help but make me feel short

Father time keeps moving across the earth

And I wonder sometimes what it's worth

Drinks with good friends in a coffee shop

And a God who won't leave me tonight

On a journey of love

You're leading me on

Oh the head and the heart are misstepping so much these days

It's time to grow up

But never lose the wonder of a child

One thing I know:

It's gonna get wild
