Night Walking

The night is quiet except for the whisper of wind,

it carries fragments of voices I once knew,

I walk through the darkness with careful steps,

feeling the weight of memory pressing close.

The streets are empty, slick with rain,

reflections of light shimmer on the pavement,

I trace them with my eyes and heart,

searching for a sign, a hint of you.

Shadows stretch across corners of the city,

folding into alleys where we once lingered,

I follow them, letting them guide my steps,

even as I know the path leads only to absence.

The night air smells of earth and longing,

every breath a reminder of what was lost,

I reach for it, hoping to grasp a fragment,

and let it fill the hollow spaces inside me.

Stars appear, trembling above in the black sky,

tiny fires against the vastness of time,

I whisper your name into the quiet,

and feel it drift, fragile and persistent,

returning to me like a thread of hope.
