Night Terror

This Really Happened

not my photo

4:01 am.

my eyes glued shut for a horror movie to play.

she's an exquisite stranger.

she's me now.

i'm a neglected wraith.

the motion picture was so practical

i believe it still moved to the big screen.

it was a mandatory watch.

sweat filled my pores as you gripped onto her

like you vowed you'd do me.

i was unable to arise.

i feared it was sincere.

the exquisite stranger is a replacement of who i thought i was

with you.

our so-called charm was just a fantasy movie that i have watched too many times.

but this time

i woke up

and turned my fear into a rhyme

that you'll never read

rather than a nightmare

that you'll never see.

4:18 am.
