Night of the Black Cat
The cat wore boots,
And carried spells in its fur,
It stared at me like a ledger,
I blinked and lost my hat.
She cackled behind the moon,
Mixing potions in empty bottles,
I tried to run,
But the broomstick beat me to it.
The sky bent like paper,
Stars fell in silver arcs,
The cat followed with judgment,
Its claws tapping on the floor.
I tripped into a shadow,
It whispered a joke I did not know,
She vanished into the wind,
And left me with the cat.
The night hummed with power,
I could feel every spell shift,
The moon twisted in laughter,
And I was trapped beneath it.
I ran through alleyways unseen,
The boots clicking behind me,
I dared not look back,
For fear of a curse’s eye.
