The Bacon Cat Legging Society

Grilled Cheese

at midnight

with red wine

and my diatribes

scribbling down

all the ins and outs

and corkscrews

in my mind.

I play hide and seek

with the moon

and capture the stars

so I can save some

light in my pocket

for a rainy day

or maybe

I'll give them away

My ghosts

play spin the bottle

with My demons

until they tuck in

for the night

with my skeletons

in the corner of my mind

I long to howl

all their truths

into the open air

and let them do whatever

sharpened arrowed words do

There's never any rest

for the weary

or the wise

Too many to do lists

not enough time.

And I get trapped

by old lies

from a voice that was never mine.

and I long to break free

from the palindrome

of the endless scroll

that only exposes

the comparing of ones soul

and never authentic appreciation.

So the moon and me

we'll disagree

as he longs to always be known by

his own sparkling shine

on the sea

But I don't long for infinite legacy

I only want those waters deep

to hear my words

then let me be.
