New Normal Ever After

Life after the wedding and honeymoon

What is it that comes

When wedding celebration,

And honeymoon are both done?

The new normal ever after

Days' worth of planning

Come to fruition

A celebration of love

For all that matter.

But then it begins

A new life askew

Adjusting to the new

Living consideration

For now, there are three

Differing points of view

There are yours, and theirs,

And the shared opinion.

The burdens alone

Now carried between two

Problems and adversity

Shared and divided

Every joy and misery

That now comes at you

Enhanced or lessened when seen

Through the eyes of the wedded.

Life, others and yourselves

Will throw up questions

For the world can be scary

As you both find your place

Reminder of reality

After the celebrations

Putting you both to task

With every moment you face.

For difficulties will come

You will both surely see

Contrast to the joyful start

Querying your resolve

But one look and remember

Beside them, you wished to be

Together every obstacle

A matter to solve.

Life throws its up and downs

Whichever way you tread

Together you will build it

There with your partner

When all is said and done

As you both go ahead

The path you are on

The new normal ever after.
