Little Johnny opens a brand new box of cereal with colors, oh so bright,

He’s had boring cereal before, but never this type, and knows not, his short-term energy will soon be in flight.

Vibrant colors, unknown shapes, he pours a bowl with milk and spoon,

And imagines holding the prize before morning cartoons.

Feeling happy that his parents left for work, several hours before noon,

And no one is there to ask him to clean up his room.

No one to monitor his mess, his spills, or his stains,

As he relishes in the sugar rush, oh, the sweetest of grains.

Smiling with every spoonful, feeling alive and free,

Home alone, to savor a snow day, oh, how simple, life used to be.
