Letters to the Other Side

I still find myself reaching for the phone

Between liquored thoughts for your voice

I've been in the sky & I'm no longer alone

You would still be on this side, if my choice

Won't you cave the walls of heaven?

And let me know you're still around

Let me hear that I'll see you again

That you're not down in the ground

My nights void of your prayers

Your words etched in my skin

Some days, I still pretend you're there

And I tell the spirits how I've been

All the sad songs remind me

All the scriptures bled in the walls

You said you'd come find me

At the final moment of it all

Did you return to his arms?

Are you the child of your parents once more?

Do you paint still or dance among the stars?

Quilt your memories or sweep the floors?

Won't you let me know?

I've been waiting for years now

Did you find the golden road?

In the place where we can see sounds?

Love,

Chayle
