Negative Space
We drown in objects.
Burying floors,
choking corners
mask our terror of the quiet.
Peace is cold and demanding.
It lives in the stark
unblinking white
of an empty countertop
under harsh light.
A flat expanse
that asks for nothing
a loud disguise.
Shadows prefer the void
where we are forced
to look at exactly
what we are running from.
