Nature's Color

Everyday

I endure

an enormity

of emotions.

Overloaded,

Overcome,

Overwhelmed.

Feeling happy and heartbroken.

Feeling lively and lowly.

Feeling calm and concerned.

Feeling everything,

In every cell,

Of my being.

Fighting with a split consciousness,

I know what I’m longing for -

What I’ve gone too long without...

The woods.

Surrounded by green - I always find peace.

The fertile land,

Birthing serenity,

Giving me life.

My soul is drawn to the soil.

My breath filled with the purified air,

Carried on wind from tree to tree.

There is nowhere else I can feel this free.

I need this tranquil space.

Where my heart, engulfed by nature’s color,

Can be cleansed of any anxious assumptions,

Left only with an understanding of what matters.

My toes stained green,

With the remnants of the energy

Which came up from the earth,

Electric currents striking up through bare feet.

I carry on through the rest of this world,

And all the colors that can be found here.

Expending great emotional energy

To navigate the entirety of the rainbow.

But, it would be unbearable for me,

To forever be stuck inside:

Brick red, Slate grey,

Eggshell white.

So I am grateful, that whenever I need to -

I can escape.

I can grow.

I can return to -

and learn from -

the green.
