My Wounds

I’m drowning in pain

My wounds dream

They pierce my skin

They bring me to my knees

They last forever

I wish for them to go away

But they never will

My wounds are my reminder

of the day I believed

My wounds

are like a pair of blackened eyes

that stare at me

from the depths of the night

without a blink,

without a flutter

just an endless stare.

The things you used to do

Have shaped me into the things I am

I carry the weight

of the things you did to me

In my heart

it swells and pulses with pain

No matter how much

I carry the weight

of the things you did to me

in my heart

it swells and pulses with pain

no matter how much

I beg it to pulse with passion

My wounds are so deep

surreal poetry
