i know you didn't ask me, don't be rude! but i will tell you anyway, all about the things i miss about my home...i miss the feel of the sunshine on my skin...lord though the sun sure is hot. I miss the blueness of the water which stretches for miles around my island home...the Caribbean Sea...even now i envision the lanky coconut trees waving happily in the warm breeze...i miss the famous Dunn's River Falls, with cascading waterfalls that caress and soothe the kinks and worries from your bones...but most of all, i miss talking the Patois dialect with strangers, friends and family. i miss our homegrown poetry and songs

Patois is speech or language that is considered nonstandard, although the term is not formally defined in linguistics. As such, patois can refer to pidgins, creoles, dialects or vernaculars, but not commonly to jargon or slang, which are vocabulary-based forms of cant

A cant is the jargon or language of a group, often employed to exclude or mislead people outside the group. It may also be called a cryptolect, argot, pseudo-language, anti-language or secret language.

i miss the days when I learned of our fight for independence...of Nanny of the Maroons, a woman fighting fiercely, standing out among mainly men, gaining the respect of her people for her leadership and kind heart...a military strategist, a woman far ahead of her time.

i miss remembering our national heroes, our national flower, the Lignum vitae, our national tree, the Blue Mahoe, our national bird, the tiny Hummingbird (Doctor Bird) is endemic to the island and can fly backwards

i miss rafting on the Rio Grande and drinking Red Stripe beer.

i miss my home for many wonderful reasons, soon i shall return to enjoy her many offerings.

I miss the taste of ackee and salted fish (ackee and saltfish we say colloquially)...you have not eaten this dish properly, until it is made in Jamaica, literally.

i miss the celebrations of the success of our athletes, when Dutch pots and covers clang amidst shouts of cheer.

"Come on down to de beach, de wata is fine man".

Enjoy the taste and smell of fried fish and festival by the beach

Come see and hear the tide ebb and flow

Up in de Blue Mountain hills, here you can relax and smoke ganja weed to your heart's content

Finally, some reggae music for your listening pleasure!

Come visit and let the heart of the people touch your soul.
