The Canadian Squall brushes them away

With the hurried ferocity

of an irish mother

Calming her child,

“it’s alright, it’s alright…

Hush now. Hush now”.

They dance into the wind,

Like frosted fairies,

shimmering.

I wonder how they are so light

When they fell from heaviness.

Are they crystalline

Because of the arctic aura

That surrounds in icy ambiance?

Or is it that my heart

Has become

A gelid depth,

Glacial,

And bitter?

Perhaps I am now made of

Permafrost

And that is why

My tears

Are always

frozen
