My Starry Night

and the words behind

By BrenPublished 3 years ago • 1 min read
A small piece of © The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh

as i lay in bed

willing myself to sleep

the ideas eddy tumultuously

swishing around in my head

like manic quicksilver

i close my eyes

and

the words,

the concepts,

the form;

all creep into my netherworld

looking like a Van Gogh swirl

on this; my not so Starry Night

a cold rain beats at my window

as i berate my sleepless self

i close my eyes

i welcome the spin

the order in my chaos

i pull my blankets

up around my chin

a minor pillow adjustment later

i can spell insomnia

i can smell insomnia

and then

i fall through

the other side

beckoned by the harsh herald

that announces my new morning
