This is a collection of my own poems that I wrote back when as a child and as an adult. The title that I think I want to use is 'Poems of Childhood and other Times'.
The River
Always there
Sparkling in the sunshine
clear.
A place for reflecting,
to stand by,
to walk by,
to enjoy,
the cool breezes that
blow over the water.
If you try
you can see pictures
in the water,
that just may tell you
something very important.
The river is always there
for you to enjoy your life
whenever you need it.
This 'River' poem describing the river that I lived by during my childhood, teenage and early adult life.
The Whistle
How lonely the whistle
sounds, as it passes
the ear, yet so solem and
peaceful at the same time.
It picks the most
thoughtful moments
when you have to think
about all the things you
have on your mind, it
seems.
It starts far away
then closer, closer and closer
until it is right next to you.
A few moments later as the
whistle slowly fades, the
sound is so lonely making
you feel as your friend is
leaving you behind for a
better place.
The whistle of anticipation
of life and acceptance of
death.
Friends anticipated,
Friends gone but are remembered.
This 'Whistle' poem is about the train whistle that always passed the house that I grew up in and the woods that I always walked through.
Windows
Clear,
Straightforward,
Opaque,
Fuzzy,
Opens the world to
understanding,
Past, present, and may be
Future.
A poems about 'Windows' and how we look through them
The next few poems were my attempts at 'greeting cards' for various occasions.
Happy Anniversary
Together all these years
Still in love and enjoying
each other through all the
days and months and all
the years of living.
Showing that your love
was right for each other.
Sharing all your happiness
and joys.
Always be together for there
is only one couple like you.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
This anniversary 'greeting card' describes the marriage of my parents and now they are together in heaven forever and ever. Hope to see them again.
Graduation
Well, you made it!
Twelve or even more years of school.
Now it is time to get on
with the well-deserved
freedom after all your
patience and work.
Remember friends,
Remember the memories
made,
For this is only one beginning
yet end.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Get to work!
This was my attempt at a humorous graduation greeting card. What do you think?
Joy
A sense of blissfulness,
A feeling of your belonging
to someone or something.
An expression of excitement
during a life.
Glorious in all senses,
with which all people
experience.
Joy is what makes life
worth experiencing
for everyone.
'Joy' is my attempt at just writing a general greeting card to cheer someone up.
Sympathy
Remembrance of those
lost, the good times
that you had are
never forgotten from
your memory.
Off to a better place, they are,
waiting with love
for those who were
left behind on earth.
Never will worry
again about earthly
problems.
So to you always
remember you have
not lost a thing
you had with them.
You will see them
again a little wiser
about life and all
it entails to everybody.
'Sympathy' was my attempt at writing a condolence card.
There will be more poems to follow that will cover poems that could have been written by children, but were written for me that could be used to teach children a sense of poetry and creativiness.
