My Own Mind

The sunlight...

The sunlight,

as I lay in your bed

Reminds me of optimism,

and to get out of my own head

It's not right

How can we be just "good friends?"

Reminds me of your decision

To let the daylight end

Don't tell me this is a fable

I created in my own mind

Without you I'm not able

To feel,

or love,

or shine

I'll forever hold us down

While you insist on being blind

Certainly not a fable

I created in my own mind

It's too bright

As I lay here with regret

Reminds me of optimism

That I somehow refuse to get

It's not right

How was I so easy to forget?

You made your decision

In spite of the things you said

Don't tell me this is a fable

I created in my own mind

Without you I'm not able

To feel,

or love,

or shine

I'll forever hold us down

While you insist on being blind

Certainly not a fable

I created in my own mind

heartbreak
