My Own Drummer

The beating heart of the forest

I know you can't hear it

The driving beat I hum along to

No matter

The only choice is clear

Motion must continue

On into forever

No set pattern

No choreography

Or teachers here

Only what I know and feel

I must grasp hold of

Each and every day

Fearlessly

I am the only one

Steering the way

Interlacing my fingers

Through some incandescent

Flowering vines

Weaving them round my

Blurred eyes

So I can see as I dance on my way

Down life’s dimly

Lit winding pathway

Never stopping

Yet somehow employing the

Wherewithal to enjoy

The aroma of the flora

I encounter, dangling by

The sides, hanging above

My invigorated body

Prancing and singing

Writing little ditties

All the livelong day
