My Mother's Pain---a Poem
The pain she felt when I kicked her womb
From the inside
Tearing through
I felt her pain
I still feel it
Her salty tears I taste
I see the pain in her eyes
The razor blade tears cascade
Every breath she takes is filled with agony
Past ancestral pain
Generational captivity
Darkness, anxiety
The non-stop fear runs deep
She is my mother and I feel her pain
Dancing the dream, I feel her fear
Eyes lonely like melting moons
I pray, yearning for a day when the water runs clear
When the sickly stains of the past just disappear
When the ugly smears of putrid fear just fall away
I am tired of my mother's pain
Just leave
I need peace
I am my mother
my mother is me
