My Love

By: Karlton A. Armistad

[Dedicated to Single People on Valentines 2021]

1.

Long, smooth chocolate legs, bold eyes and the warmest smile I have ever known. Locks a mix of thick, thin and long with a history of mystery stored under this tapestry of maturity, how is it I took so long to find you?

2.

I watch you brush your teeth in the morning and the methodical way you cook every meal we enjoy. A priceless love, and beautiful bond keeps Us bound and yet you say little and know Me better than anyone. Your voice isn’t melodic but symphonic as through music, dance and the spoken word, you share tiny pieces of your struggle to stay alive, to stand strong and survive, and yet others constantly seek to damage the tiny bit of happiness we have.

3.

I’ve had to hide You from everyone, and give You my word to no longer naively put You in harm, trusting others with My most delicate treasure, only to see them stain our face with tears, replace our hopes with fears....no more!

I will take care of Us now and always as in You I am my most natural Me, you see, keeping My word to you allows me to stay true and love, yes love wholly and openly accepting Me; for Me.

End.

About the Creator

Andrew Little

Carlton A. Armistad is the pseudonym for Andrew R. Little. I prefer writing under this as it allows me to look at any body of work I complete separate to my personal day-to-existence, and safeguards my relationships and family.
