My Last Hope

Even the light learns to kneel before the dark, but never surrenders.

By Saqib UllahPublished 11 months ago 1 min read

I have nothing left

but a flicker —

a trembling breath

inside the ruins

of yesterday.

The stars

stopped listening

a long time ago,

but I still whisper

their names.

Hope —

you fragile thing,

you stay

even when I push you away,

even when I call you foolish.

You live

in the corner of my chest,

where the heart still hums

softly,

like a candle burning

for someone

who may never return.

Some days,

you are just

a shadow of light

on my shaking hands.

Other days,

you rise —

tall as forgiveness,

brave as faith,

loud as love.

If this world

forgets me tomorrow,

promise me

you’ll stay

for one last sunrise.

Because even broken hearts

need something

to believe in.

And you —

my last hope —

you have never once

let me fall

without light.
