My friend & I

I flew away with a bird once

When she left, We left

We were hungry so we stopped for a bite

Then we went to take a rest

We awoke when we heard a strange noise

Even up so high we knew to be aware

We took off again in the midnight sky

Just so we could fly

We soared higher and higher

At times I felt like we kissed the stars

Now that I’m back on the ground

Sometimes I dream of her

I even find myself looking for glimpses of her

I hope that she's safe

I hope that she's well-fed

I hope she found a friend to fly with

I hope I hope I hope
