My Elegy

A poem to thee

By Kristina BrulePublished 6 months ago • 1 min read

There you go, floating free way above me

Flying with clouds and singing with birds

Playing with the angles that look down and watch me

Waving at me and reaching down just to pull away

Yelling at me when you're just far enough away to not understand

but to hear

I mourn for you

Every day I think of you

Tears cascading down my face

Leaving traces of love and pain

Visiting your gravesite

Freshly laid flowers lie

Changed weekly

I grew them for you

Never a sunny day when I visit

Rain pours, and mud surrounds

I read the words that echo on your cold stone

“Here lies my hopes and dreams.”
