My Dying Moments

A Poem

By Nick MayPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Through my heart a warm pain pierces, I see the light of the sun etched in the sky gracing me with its blissful radiance. In the distance, echoes of a ruined city with towers that once reached the heavens above I see the smoke of history rise up as I lay on the ground. Tears that I never knew begin flowing as I hear the voices of those around me. Friend. Foe. It doesn't matter who they were or who I was for I am them and they are me. I hold a pain where once my heart lay as I begin to see my love blossom before my eyes. Her beauty holds no bounds on this earth and I remember of a time when I could call her by name, but now I have forgotten that name just as this world has forgotten me. My tears begin to stop as my heart fades. I soon wonder where I will wake to next. Caressed in the arms of my love or in the arms of a mother that we children have hurt. Will this mother accept me back after knowing of the sins I have committed against my brothers and sisters or will I too be forsaken and cast away as we children have casted our mother?
