My Day with God

Poetry by Me: Elizabeth Smith

It's been a rough life, you see

I've had many long days

And they've beaten me down in the cruelest of ways

The world is so different

From what I try to be

That when I try to be better

Nobody sees

And one day I was struggling

No one was there

Except the Creator and me

And that didn't seem fair

"Why am I here, Creator? And where have you been?"

"Unmake me" I cried, and then cursed at the wind

"My child" He said, with a pain in His heart,

"You're not alone, I've been here from the start"

"You wasted your love, Creator!" I cried.

"I wasn't worth it, and yet, you still died."

"Nothing was wasted, my child" He began

"From the beginning of the earth, Dear one, this was my plan.

My plan was to save you, deserving or not

But you were not given, so instead you were bought."

I know life is hard but I love you, my child,

You'll always be worth it" He hugged me then smiled.

With that He finished and I went on my way

Eager to tell others about my wonderful day.
