It’s deep.
It’s raw.
It’s profound.
***
It’s been there for as long as I can remember.
Sometimes, it’s like a phone in my pocket.
Other times, it’s like a backpack filled with rocks.
***
It threatens to pull into its cold embrace.
During the day, when I’m with my friends.
At night, when I’m trying to fall asleep.
***
My chest aches when it punches me.
The tears slide down my face.
My mind spirals to dark places.
***
I pick myself up off the ground.
I brush the dirt off my clothes.
I push forward.
***
I can’t give up now.
Better days will come.
I know it.
