My Body is Safe Here.

Nightly, for hours at a time.

My body is safe in the water. Nightly-For hours at a time.

Safe from the aches and pains of gravity, and pulling a changing body through months of turmoil.

In the warmth of the tub, I am free from the chills that cut down to the bone and stay for days at a time.

Tiny currents remind me that the twiches are still there, but somehow under the surface, they are less so.

In the echos of my bathtub, my brain is able to relax- No longer squeezing to pull words, and thoughts and memories out.

Three times a night I empty half of the cooled water and my dreadful thoughts slip away with it. Sometimes, will salt from my tears mixed in. Filling the tub again to the brim I add more warmth and more hopes for healing.

Nightly, for hours at a time.
