In the bustle of life, I hurried past,
An old woman, unnoticed, sitting at last.
Her worn clothes and tired eyes,
A roll of chapati, a meager prize.
Engrossed in laughter, lost in chatter,
I passed her by, my heart no matter.
She asked for help, showing her meal,
Yet I walked on, oblivious, my soul sealed.
That night, her face hunted my sleep,
Her plea for kindness buried deep.
With regret, I awoke the next day,
To seek her out, to find a way.
But she was gone, nowhere in sight,
Lost in the city's relentless fight.
Now my days are shadowed with remorse,
For heeding her silent desperate course.
I pray each moment my heart in plea,
For her to find peace, for her to be free.
May she have food to ease her hunger pain.
And shelter from life's relentless rain.
Forgive me, old lady, for my blind stride,
For the humanity I failed to provide.
Your image stays, a constant guide,
To open my heart, to cast aside pride.
In every prayer, I send her name,
My kindness finds her and erases her shame.
May her days be gentle, her nights serene,
In this world, where kindness is unseen.
Let this remorse, this burden I bear,
Spare me to action, to show I care.
To never again let indifference reign,
But to offer solace, to ease her pain.
From the movement, I failed the test,
To be compassionate, to do what's best.
Yet from this lesson, I have learned,
To heed the call, where kindness yearned.
To the old lady on the street that day,
I pray for peace, as I humbly say:
May you find warmth, and never hunger more,
In the grace of kindness, forever soar.
This is the true thing that happened to me, years passed but still, I regret that. That time while passing by that old woman the money I had in my pocket I still haven't spent; I still don't dare to touch that money. I hope no one of you will make the same mistake as me.
