Did That Girls’ Trip Really Help?

Sometimes I wonder

If bold lime green and fuchsia frocks

From old heiress brands

Provide stress-relief

For you lovely ladies

Locked in eternal battles

With disobedient gated homeowners,

Teenage contraband vodka bottles,

And the cloying scent of mistresses

That linger on 1818 suits.

Maybe that little trip to Worth Avenue

Soothed the tightly sculpted brows

And the incessant inner monologues

Screaming that surely

Life must offer more than

Lock-jawed pickleball conversations,

Carefully crafted country club dinners,

And doyenne days with people

You fucking despise.
