Dear Mr. Belafonte,

You were a singer, activist, an actor

You knew your roles and could sing.

You played a major factor

In letting the bells of freedom ring.

Through decades of work

You showed what it meant to be a man

Calypso rhythms and chicken made jerk,

You possessed the master plan.

You knew how to instill the real.

Your every move made ladies swoon.

You were ahead of the hand on the deal

And sent minds up to the moon.

Your elegance and grace

Landed you various roles.

It was your manly face.

That drove people to the polls.

Sporty, debonair and true,

You sent miles of smiles.

Your voice began to rasp, it didn’t stop you.

You continued through strife and trials.

You wanted the individual to be free.

You sided with King and his stories.

You let people be who they wanted to be.

Your life was full of the glories.

Sincerely,

A True Supporter
