Move On

A Subway Sonnet

From every display of ugly contempt

From a symphony of snickered insults

From an arcade of rolling eyes, attempt

Alchemically to harvest sweet results

Generally, the other humans suck

The trouble is that, to them, so do you

So with your nonsense, they will have no truck

Their jokes at your expense always ring true

Your every complaint echoes back to you

So why not cease to complain all at once?

You recall many slights; all of us do

Each clever ape, at some point, feels the dunce

A gallery of spite, we all accrue

Do not let memory despoil today

Move on, and put a fresh self on display

Well written, deep topic. But well worth pondering.

Feels effortless D.J. and rings true. I was distracted earlier when I liked this, but I’m back hah and I still can’t stop looking at that cover image. Terrific depth.

  • That definitely seems like the wise thing to do. Learn from past mistakes and move on.
