Daddy, I know you've been gone a good while.

Even so, a day doesn't go by that I don't think about your smile.

A little mischievous and flirty,

Somehow, your jokes were always dirty,

And you never cared about style.

Daddy, you missed so many things.

A mental breakdown, a breakup, and then wedding rings.

Nursing school was tough,

My health is rough,

All the while, you gained your wings.

Daddy, life is too quiet without you.

I miss the way you would pull us through

Whatever scenario or patch

You and Mom were quite the match

Maybe, someday, she'll be up there too.
