Motherhood

Out of Order

Since I can remember,

I've wanted to be a mother.

I love holding my child.

She feels like a soft dream.

She smells of wishes.

Her laughter plays like a sweet symphony.

When I kiss her cheek, I taste the promise for the future.

When she grows,

She'll reach for my hand.

She'll be inquisitive and energetic.

I'll never tire of her hugs.

There is nothing like being a loving mother.

*

No, don’t take her away.

She’s mine.

Awareness comes involuntarily.

*

I hold my deceased premature baby in my arms.

She has no

Dreams,

Wishes,

Laughter,

Promise of a future.

They take her from me.

Grief doesn't begin to describe my anguish.

Yet,

I see my daughter with me,

This MUST be accurate.

Because...

Since I can remember,

I've wanted to be a mother.

I love holding my child.
