Mother,

A Home Without Her

By hassan khanPublished 6 months ago • 1 min read

After Mother Was Gone

When mother left, silence filled the home,

Each room stood still, as if turned to stone.

The voice that once felt like morning light,

Now fades away into endless night.

No one waits for me at the door,

No gentle “Did you eat?” anymore.

The hands that took all pain away,

Now live in memories that slowly fade.

Father looks strong, but deep inside,

A quiet storm he tries to hide.

My sister’s laughter has disappeared,

My brother grew up before we were prepared.

Nights have become the hardest part,

Every corner echoes her name in my heart.

Food is made, but it has no taste,

Every bite feels empty, gone to waste.

I live each day, but something is wrong,

Every joy feels weak, never strong.

At the end of every prayer I say,

“Mother”… her name finds its way.

This house still stands, but it’s not the same,

Because life itself left with her name.
