Most Trees Aren't Straight
And You Don't Have To Be
Most trees aren’t straight
And you don’t have to be
Take pride in your winding roots
That reach deep within the ground
To pull forth that which nurtures you
That enable you to stand strong
When the strong winds blow
💖
Most trees aren’t straight
And you don’t have to be
Embrace every beautiful curve
That makes your trunk strong
You can’t be pushed over
You stand by the road to show the way
Your shape and your bark gloriously yours
💖
Most trees aren’t straight
And you don’t have to be
Let your branches twist and turn
More beautiful with each new growth
A sculpture unique, queer
A safe haven for others
Who have yet to find their true form
💖
Most trees aren’t straight
And you don’t have to be
For in the end
You only have to be you
And that is beautiful
That is valid
Your every twist and turn.
