Morning Routine

Baby Bear Pancakes

By Dan R FowlerPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Morning Routine

Lights dimmed morning’s shadows spread,

Whispers in the air, movement in bed.

It’s morning again in this normal fashion,

Fighting to release the night, getting traction.

It’s the same routine this conflict I face,

Pulling and tugging trying to hasten the pace.

But reluctant stands my opponent I see,

No matter how many compassionate pleas.

“It’s time to get moving, time’s ticking,”

My morning chant one that takes a licking.

No rush or urgency have I ever seen thus far,

One would think morning’s call opens a scar.

Never knowing what to fix for breakfast,

Maybe baby bear pancakes or bacon without backlash.

Regardless what’s placed before them I’ve learned.

There’s only a bite or two that I’ve earned.

Yet, it’s my privilege to attend to their needs,

And keep them going planting positive seeds.

I only hope when things become memories,

That each remembers smiles and the promises.
