Morning Portraits

… we are the stanzas - lightly sketched.

I spend my mornings in living galleries

where faces make their marks in time.

As best I can, I note the vagaries

that give some worthiness to rhyme.

.

I overlook the niceties, the pleasantries,

the regulars that daily come and go.

Instead, I’m drawn to the extremities,

to the oddities less commonly on show.

.

I am the poet, the keyboard warrior,

the freelance editor in chief.

I am the poet, the unabashed borrower

of narratives awaiting your belief.

.

We are the canvass - tightly stretched.

We are the stanzas - lightly sketched.

.

About the Creator

Tim Grace

A first impression has a lasting effect - it makes a notable difference. In a subtle way that’s who I am as a poet. A ‘first impression’ looking for the gentle ‘twist’ that draws attention to a novel observation.
