I careen past the first ramp

onto 85 on my morning drive,

I go around through Christmastown

and up Riverside Drive

to exit 26, where traffic thins out,

a fourth lane materializing

against the wall at the Chick-Fil-A exit (27)

before 485, the perimeter, feeds in,

before the airport. Sometimes

I get off there, Spidey skills

sensing traffic, instead of

going all the way down

to Billy Graham, sailing past

the airport, sipping my coffee,

preparing

to step into my day

on campus.
