More rare than a critically endangered species of tree
on the island of Mahe,
named after what floats in the sea with abundance.
The increasingly rare songbird, in need of undisturbed habitats,
uses basic skills to survive
compared with the complexities in a human life.
There’s a slowness in understanding differences between myself and those
who look similar in appearance
who also look from the inside out with common references.
Belonging to a species that separates and isolates
based on superficiality and abilities in deeper thinking
I’m forced to discover the rarity of me.
